Legend Owners Association – AGM February 2015
The 2015 AGM was held at the RNLI College in Poole. A record 107 people attended representing 43 boats, Legend Boats and Waterside Properties. To say it was an outstanding success was to put it mildly. It was particularly pleasing to have representatives from all of the regions, including the Mediterranean.
The College is set on the shores of Poole Harbour and has hotel rooms of good quality and amazing views. Before and after the AGM we were able to take part in a guided tour of the College, with, for me at least, the highlight being the lifeboat simulator. It really felt like one was at sea and holding on tight through enormous waves.
At the AGM the new committee was elected and I would like to thank those leaving for all their efforts on behalf of the LOA: Julian Palmer, Colin Simms Dylan Whittaker and Nick Rainsley. Even though Nick has gone to the Dark Side (he is getting a French boat) I am sure he will still be active with the LOA and one day will see the error of his ways.
The events for this year are all available on the website, with the addition of the Haslar rally on 27/28 June being organised by Luke van Beek – see the Forum for details. All of the events are the result of individual members coming up with ideas and then executing them. This is what keeps the rallies fresh and up to date. So, if you think of somewhere to meet or a place to go, come forward and see if it can fit in. We already have some new ideas for next year, so keep them coming. In order to fit the calendar together we would like to have most rallies in place by October of this year for next year.
Even if there is not a rally on any particular weekend, keep your eyes open on facebook or the Forum as there is often a gathering of Leggies somewhere for an informal get together.
Most queries can be answered on the Forum, but you can always contact committee members or myself directly: best by e-mail.
Have a good summer sailing.

New UK Marlow Hunter Distributor Announced
Dear Legend Owner
Further to Stephen Cutsforth's letter I felt it important to address you individually prior to making a public announcement.
I have in place an experienced and passionate team to take the brand back to where it deserves to be, and should be, in the UK market. This team has a wealth of experience with Legend Yachts, some members of which have been inspirational in their growth from day one.
We have placed an initial order for two models, the award winning 33 and the new, extremely impressive and voluminous 37. Both of these are bilge keel models, ordered to the standard specification. However, if you have views on any additional factory fitted extras that should be included, then your feedback and knowledge would be appreciated; it is always difficult to know what options would be most appropriate for these models and who better to ask than those using them?
The majority of the sales and commissioning which I shall be overseeing personally with the assistance of the team will take place at Sparkes Marina, Hayling Island, the traditional home of Legend Yachts.
The team and I have had numerous meetings with Stephen Cutsforth to discuss and put in place an infrastructure to allow the brand to grow; the following companies and individuals have been appointed to help ensure that this is achieved:
Waterside Boat Sales, South Coast Dealers - Chris Ibbotson and Marcus Munt, company Directors; both have vast experience with the brand as previous employees of the original Opal Marine. Waterside Boat Sales have a network of brokerage offices in key marinas along the South Coast which will be utilised to generate maximum exposure, create sales and provide product support.
Hayling Glass Fibre Repairs, Commissioning and warranty work - Mike Frith, his son Dean and their team are arguably the most experienced professionals in the commissioning and repair of Legend Yachts having been based at Sparkes Marina for 30 years, undertaking and overseeing the commissioning and warranty for the majority of Legend Yachts on the water today. I immediately opened discussions with Mike and Dean so that I can be confident knowing all new Legend Yachts are put through a rigorous quality control procedure prior to handover.
Bruce Edgington, Consultant - I have to mention my Dad just in case he reads this letter and I hadn't given him any credit! Bruce played a key role in Legend Yachts' initial success in the UK as Sales Director for Opal Marine, his knowledge will be invaluable. Expect to see him at every boat show until he keels over!
Dylan Whittaker, Boat Show Sales Team/Consultant - Dylan has been very proactive in his support for the UK distributor over the past 8 years. I am lucky to be able to continue to utilise his knowledge and sales skills at various events throughout the season and especially at the two major UK International Boat Shows.
We are also in talks with dealers on the East Coast and in the North to ensure that we have a strong dealer network across the UK and will seek to develop this further in due course.
One of my key objectives for me is to improve the relationship with, and support for, the Legend Owners Association; I will be keeping you informed of our progress and hope to meet you all in the near future.

Alachua, Florida (October 4 ,2012) - On the eve of its 40th anniversary sailboat and sailing yacht manufacture Hunter Marine Corporation is adding a new chapter to its history book. Marlow Acquisitions LLC, headed by David Marlow, has acquired all of the company's operating costs and related assets.
